For a limited time MaineHealth is offering sign on bonuses for Medical Assistants:
- 1+ years of experience eligible for $5,000 (full time)
- 0-1 years of experience eligible for $4,000 (full time)
- Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part time MA position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible.
- Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment.
This busy Family Medicine practice is looking for an experienced MA to join their team and work 40 hours a week remote in our EPIC in-baskets. Remote work includes communicating with patients via telephone and MyChart messages, scheduling, prior authorizations, medication refills, and other administrative duties to serve our patients and providers. Our Portland practice operates a Residency Program, so an interest in continuing education and growth are paramount. Our team values integrity, teamwork, and communication. - Skill in time management, problem solving, multitasking, prioritizing and medical care coordination.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medical office procedures.
- Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality.
Position Summary:
The Medical Assistant (MA) is assigned duties and responsibilities related to patient care in a team-based ambulatory practice environment. The MA functions under the license of the provider when performing clinical and other patient care tasks. The MA must demonstrate competency in all skills related to the performance of patient care within their scope of practice and according to organizational policies, accrediting and licensing bodies.
- Proficient computer skills and knowledge of the electronic medical record.
- The Medical Assistant (MA) is assigned duties and responsibilities related to patient care in a team-based ambulatory practice environment. The MA functions under the license of the provider when performing clinical and other patient care tasks. The MA must demonstrate competency in all skills related to the performance of patient care within their scope of practice and according to organizational policies, accrediting and licensing bodies.
- License/Certifications: Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant credentialing preferred. Current BLS required.
- Employee must obtain a Successfully Achieves(SA) or above on performance evaluation.
- Committee membership at an organizational or practice level with attendance record of at least 50% of the meetings.
- Submission of an annual SMART goal.
- Experience: See "Education." Minimum of 1 year within the same practice with minimum 20 hours or more per week.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: As of July 1, 2016, applicants must have graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program with completion of 160 hours clinical experience acquired through an externship. Acceptable equivalent criteria minimum of 2 years' clinical experience in a multi-physician medical practice. Completes 10 CEUs of clinical education per calendar year.
License/Certifications: Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant credentialing preferred. Current BLS required.

Ability to excel in a team-based care environment.
Maintain personal and professional records that include evaluation and validation of clinical competence/proficiency, continuing education, and any certification or verification of special skill sets.
