As a Managing Consultant at Wood Mackenzie, you will take ownership for the delivery of important parts of the assignment as well as project managing and coordinating the overall effort under the supervision of a Project Director:
  • Building compelling presentations conveying key messages concisely for a senior audience
  • Taking a proactive role in the recruiting process
  • Coordinating SMEs, asking the relevant questions and extracting insights to achieve the project’s objective
  • Presenting your recommendations with poise and confidence to senior client stakeholders
  • Leading and executing complex analysis of commodity markets and project economics
  • Leading content discussions within project teams
  • Engaging across Wood Mackenzie to help identify ideas for new products and capabilities
  • Assisting other members of the team to ensure successful delivery
  • Providing a clear view to the team and the client of Wood Mackenzie’s research insights and available data and how these can be best used in the project
  • Coordinating and managing the overall project as Project Manager
  • Coaching junior team members on day-to-day consulting tasks
Qualifications
Knowledge & Experience Required
  • At least 6 years' experience in management consulting, finance and/or a commercial/analytical role, with a focus on the upstream oil and gas sector (onshore US focus is a plus)
  • Possess a bachelor's degree in a relevant quantitative or science discipline such as business, economics, finance, statistics, or engineering; MBA or master's is a plus
  • Considerable experience managing key project work flows and overall coordination of projects in a Project Manager role
  • Proven record of leadership in a work setting and/or through extracurricular activities

Recent Projects Our Upstream Practice Have Engaged In Include
  • Conducting a multi-phased market entry assessment for an American independent, evaluating economic potential, as well as commercial, country and regulatory risks
  • Assisting operators to build/adjust their strategy and portfolio to be more resilient considering the Energy transition
  • Advising a government in the Americas and developing a successful licensing round strategy, including fiscal system design, bidding criteria assessment, and overall regulation
  • Executing a commercial due diligence for a midstream player in the Lower 48 to assess the feasibility of a gas pipeline expansion
  • Evaluating the feasibility of transforming a potash mine into an oil field evaporation pond
  • Advising an energy infrastructure group to formulate its CCUS strategy and assess its internal capabilities for execution
  • Assessing the resiliency of the portfolio of an independent gas producer against different climate scenarios for the TCFD report
  • Evaluating and benchmarking the carbon footprint of the portfolio of a large independent against industry and leaders in the context of the energy transition
  • Performing a buy-side commercial due diligence for a National Oil Company (NOC) around existing oil field assets in the Americas
  • Conducting a study about the financial industry’s requirements on ESG disclosures, and actions for the energy industry, and its implications for an upstream focused operator
