Job Title: Manager, Officiating Education Program
Department: Hockey Development
Reports To: Manager of Education, USA Hockey, Inc.
Basic Function: This individual is responsible for managing the Officiating Education Program (OEP), volunteer personnel, projects, and initiatives. The position requires a self-directed individual with relationship, organizational, budgetary, and problem-solving skills. The candidate must be able to work in a cooperative and collaborative manner, coordinating efforts with multiple stakeholders including the Manager of Youth Officiating Development and the Director of Advanced Officiating to carryout events and programming for the development of officiating education
Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for the coordination of the OEP monthly newsletter
  • Assist in developing and monitoring the OEP budget
  • Present both virtually and in-person at OEP clinics, workshops, symposiums, and events
  • Assist with national and district officiating development camps
  • Work with the Officials Section Chair to develop an agenda and administer officiating section meetings
  • Involvement with the Officiating Program’s youth and advanced development initiatives
  • Work closely with Manager of Education and the Officials Section to develop consistent OEP educational content that is in line with the overall direction of the Hockey Development department
  • Overall responsibility for the administration and organization of the OEP with a mission to develop officials at every membership level through a comprehensive education program
  • Process district accounts and financial reports
  • Oversee the financial responsibilities of Officials Section and District Referees-in-Chief
  • Coordinate training seminars for district classroom seminar personnel
  • Coordination and administration of Advanced Officiating Symposium
  • Aid in the overall development of OEP programming at all membership levels including Continuing Education
Qualifications:
  • Passion and dedication to the sport of hockey
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Administration, Physical Education or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Experience in education, officiating education, officiating administration and/or officiating
Skills:
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong writing, editing and computer skills with an extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe, and video editing software.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage several projects simultaneously
  • Enthusiastic, positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with local volunteers, Board of Directors, and Senior Staff
Work Conditions:
  • Standard office equipment
  • Job may require event set-up/tear-down, moving boxes in storage or at events
  • This is a full-time, exempt position requiring work during weekends, holidays, and other non-traditional hours.
  • Travel, and ability to work away from office and/or home is required
  • Ascending or descending stairs, equipped with elevator access, in a multi-level office building

Preferred Location: Open to remote
Salary: $55,000 - $60,000 annually
