Linux Systems Engineer

The client is a rapidly growing Fintech company in Chicago who is looking for a motivated individual to join their innovative collaborative team working through the design, implementation, and management of trading systems environments.

As a Linux Systems Engineer you will leverage your experience with multi-tiered, low latency, scalable application environments.

Please note this is a hybrid position with 4 days onsite at the client’s Chicago office.

As a Linux Systems Engineer, you will:

• Automate patch management
• Have the opportunity to solve problems and ensure production systems maintain availability
• Provide expert advice regarding hardware, infrastructure architecture, and capacity planning
• Design and maintain high performance low latency trading related environments
• Develop solutions to automate operations and improve reliability

Position requirements:

• Financial industry and trading firm experience is a major plus
• Knowledge of various data storage formats
• Experience with virtual clusters and containers
• Experience with database maintenance and recovery
• 4+ years of Linux administration experience
• Experience with one or more CSPs (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
• Please note this is a hybrid position with 4 days onsite at the client’s Chicago office
• Scripting language experience (Python/BASH)
• 2+ years configuration management using DevOps tools (i.e. Chef, Salt, Puppet)
• Solid understanding of networking technology including routing, TCP/IP, and DNS
• US Citizen or Green Card is required for this position
• Detailed understanding of the architecture and maintenance of low latency infrastructure
• Experience with BIOS, PXE
