Department Lead

Seltzer’s Smokehouse is looking for a highly skilled Line Lead who is ready to join us as we head into a new chapter in our amazing story. With a renewed vision from our next generation CEO, the iconic Seltzer’s brand is preparing for national expansion through innovation, creativity, and forward thinking.

We are seeking an exceptional and talented Line Lead who oversees an entire Department ensuring that the area is set up for operation prior to the start of each shift and that the production and sanitation data is properly recorded. Your focus will be on production efficiency and waste reduction. You’ll work with a team of plant professionals and other leads and have access and exposure to all our departments in order to bring our amazing product to market.

Responsibilities:

• Report any mechanical issues to Maintenance, Production Supervisor and Plant Manager
• Ensure all machinery is properly assembled prior to start of shift
• Rotate associates to ensure that each associate learns and can perform all duties of slicing department
• Track all scrap and damages
• Ensure proper sanitation procedures are followed
• Ensure food safety and food defense in the plant.
• Direct production at the highest possible efficiency.
• Oversee and direct department associates
• Ensure all line clearances are properly executed
• Resolve any staffing issues by coordinating with other departments and filling in where needed
• Ensure the production schedule for the department is successfully met daily
• Maintain detailed records of production via computer and paper logs
• Ensure all associates are on task based off their job descriptions (See HR-REF-0032 and HR-REF-0033)
• Ensure all items are scanned into the system and are properly consumed

Must have availability from 6-6 Monday through Saturday

You must have a High school diploma or GED equivalent, strong references from previous employers and demonstrate experience with food safety, sanitation, and automated machinery. You must possess excellent time management, leadership, organizational, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills. You must also have Physical stamina, the ability to work long hours on one’s feet and lift 50+ pounds, ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure, day to day flexibility, and the ability to work normal and/or extended (evenings, nights, weekends, holidays) office hours to meet established deadlines.

Food Manufacturing experience along with knowledge of warehouse management systems and warehouse equipment including forklifts and pallet jacks is preferred but not necessary
