Job Description

UC Health is hiring a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) IV, MOHS Dermatology for the first-shift in the Dermatology Department at UC Health Midtown.
A MOHS Dermatology LPN will support the University of Cincinnati Medical Center's Dermatology Department and assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by assisting Physicians with the removal of skin Cancer.

Responsibilities
The LPN is an individual who holds a current state license to practice nursing. The practice of nursing requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide care to groups and individuals. The LPN utilizes knowledge derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care. The care is culturally based and age specific.
  • Contributes recommendations to the RN regarding the interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient in a collaborative effort with other health care team members within the time frame indicated by unit's standards of practice.
  • Assumes responsibility for personal professional development and contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others
  • Acts as a resource person and mentor for new personnel, floater, and/or supplemental staff working on the unit.
  • Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment, and involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting the needs of the unit.
  • Nursing process is accurately and concisely documented, including the patient's response to nursing interventions and in accordance to hospital policy and procedure.
  • Identifies and responds appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious/cultural norms.
  • Communicates formulated plan of care, as appropriate, to all levels of associates involved in the patient's care and demonstrates ability to establish priorities of care based on patient's assessment and needs.
  • Provides input to the RN regarding establishing and prioritizing a list of actual, and potential, individualized age-specific patient problems and/or needs.

Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Current Ohio Board of Nursing - IV and Meds Certification; required.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.

Experience: MOHS, Surgical or Dermatology experience preferred
Skills and Knowledge: Previous outpatient clinic experience, prior authorization and insurance experience a plus!
