Lab Assist Trainee- Lab- Prn-1St Shift

Overview

Obtains blood specimens from patients and delivers specimens to the laboratory and/or sends through the transport system. Correctly identifies patients and specimens. Processes and prepares samples in the laboratory for testing.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required

Education

MLA certification from a nationally recognized credentialing agency (i.e. ASCP or AMT) preferred. Associates Degree preferred, with a minimum of 6 semester hours of chemistry and 6 semester hours of biology, but not required.

Experience

Previous work experience strongly preferred.

Additional Skills/Abilities

Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Must be able to maintain absolute confidentiality in the handling of patient information Absolute integrity and accuracy in patient identification process. May be required to complete HeartSaver CPR by the end of the orientation period.
