Job Description
Overview:
Responsible for ensuring operations of Stewarding associates performance are in accordance with Resort Policy and Procedures.

Adhere to any and all company and departmental policies, practices and procedures.

Contribute to a safe work environment, through compliance with established safety guidelines, identifying potential safety hazards, and reporting same to the appropriate person for proper resolution.

Maintain a professional departmental, company and community reputation.
Responsibilities:
  • Inspect all areas, equipment, pots, pans, and dishware to assure everything is kept stocked, neat and clean according to health department and company standards.
  • Responsible for training all Stewarding associates on the proper break down, handling, and cleaning of all machinery and equipment in all food production areas.
  • Ensures the cleanest, safest environment for food production and service through continuous attention to detail.
  • Reviews and makes recommendations and suggestions and hire, suspend, transfer, promote, evaluate, discipline and terminate all service associates in a fair and equitable manner.
  • Assists management by enforcing performance standards, policies and procedures as they relate to Stewarding operations, monitors uncompromising levels of sanitation in all food production areas. Ensures smooth and efficient operations on a continual basis.
  • Responsible for all Stewarding associates while on a scheduled shift.
  • Promotes positive Guest Relations through prompt, courteous and efficient service.
  • Provides input to management concerning operational deficiencies and areas in need of improvement.
  • Ensures the highest possible standards of guest service and associate relations are maintained and carried out in a fair and equitable manner.
  • Preform all other duties as assigned.
  • Ensures compliance with all health and safety standards/regulations as well as all applicable federal, state and local laws/ordinances.
  • Assists Kitchen Stewarding Manager with scheduling of associates and ensuring correct staffing levels and adjustments are made in accordance with guest needs.
  • Monitors job performance of all Stewarding associates and provides feedback on same to aid the associates in training, developing and enhancing skills.
  • Leads by setting a positive example to all associates.
  • Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record.
  • Maintain an adequate supply and possess knowledge of all cleaning supplies and chemicals used.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises the daily activities of all Steward staff on assigned shift.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training Associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining Associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

AGE and GAMING:

21 years of age or above

Gaming property – Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license issued by the Choctaw Gaming Commission.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or GED is required. Two (2) years of previous progressive experience in professional culinary operations is required.


SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required. Must be Serv-Safe certified or become certified within thirty (30) days of employment at Pearl River Resort.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as addition subtraction and multiplication tables.


REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the Associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Essential responsibilities include moderate to heavy physical ability such as lift or maneuver at least fifty (50) pounds, and standing/walking 90% of the shift. Perform position responsibilities and/or essential functions on slippery or wet surfaces. Work with hazardous chemicals. Must be able to work while wearing latex, vinyl, or rubber gloves. Bending, stooping and stretching of arms during assigned shift.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an Associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.


The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases to loud. When on the casino floor or other designated areas may be subjected to tobacco smoke.

Due to the unpredictable nature of the hospitality/entertainment industry, Associates must be able to work varying-schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.
