Job Description

The IT/OT Computer systems administrator will be located onsite in Rensselaer, NY, and is responsible for providing end-to-end support of in-lab and in-process area computers.

The candidate will build and maintain a working relationship with Lab Owners, IT Teams, and Management.

Update the Regulatory Asset Management systems inventory of lab equipment, PC’s, software, and any other information pertinent to the environment

Maintain daily project related communications with the team

Act as technical SME and provide support:

  • Training
  • Troubleshoot technical computer issues
  • Audit response
  • Ability to manage one’s time with minimal supervision to achieve objectives
  • Investigations
  • Lab Administration
  • Implement continuous improvement
  • Data backup configuration
  • Write change control requests and test plans
  • SOP editing and updating
  • Software: training and advanced end user
  • Repair systems
  • Data integrity assessments
  • PER requests
  • Professionalism, excellent listening skills, superior analytical skills, great verbal, and written communication skills
  • Validation

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school degree
  • 2+ years of experience in a lab environment

  • Must be customer service orientated and believe in teamwork, collaboration, adaptability, and initiative.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem solving skills to resolve issues.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills combined with the ability to provide quick resolution to problems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
  • Experience working in various lab environments.
  • Some scripting or programming.
  • Understanding of lab practices, instruments, and software.
  • Experience with servers and laboratory or manufacturing computers.


Physical Requirements & Expectations:

  • Frequently operate on instruments, objects, tools or controls, which will require regular bending, squatting, stretching, and reaching in order to perform a service function.
  • Regularly move or lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally move or lift up to 100 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include without limitation, the ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the instrument), distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus in order to perform the essential service functions of this position.
  • Occasionally operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 25% of the time
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move inside and outside labs
