Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

The IT Application Support Analyst’ role is to deliver support to end users in the organization about how to use various types of software programs efficiently and effectively in fulfilling business objectives. This includes troubleshooting applications and software for all internal customers. The Application Support Analyst II will either perform hands-on support/configuration or coordinate services/vendors who perform the work.


RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Create and deploy feedback mechanisms for end users. Analyze results, make recommendations for support process improvement, and implement changes.
  • Evaluate documented resolutions and analyze trends for ways to prevent repeated future problems.
  • Field incoming problem tickets from end users to resolve application and software issues within servers, databases, and other mission-critical systems.
  • Prioritize, schedule, and administer all instances where defect resolution is required.
  • Perform hands-on (or coordinate with services to perform) fixes, including installing and upgrading software, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications.
  • Record, track, and document the problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken, through to final resolution.
  • Communicate application problems and issues to key stakeholders, including management, development teams, and end users.
  • Test fixes and perform post-resolution follow-ups to ensure problems have been adequately resolved.
  • Identify and learn appropriate software applications used and supported by the organization.
  • Participate in the design, development, and delivery of software applications training programs.
  • Post software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and frequently asked questions resources on internal knowledge base to assist in problem resolution.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, including the installation of service packs, patches, hot fixes, anti-virus software, security updates, and password changes.
  • Perform Disaster Recovery (DR) testing and research as directed.
  • Apply diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting.
  • Manage and/or provide guidance to services and junior members of the team.
  • Conduct research into software application products and services in support of development and purchasing efforts.
  • Provide support for the testing of new and existing software applications under development or consideration for purchase.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Computer Programming preferred
  • Familiarity with information processing principles and practices in one or more of the following industry: Manufacturing, Food and Beverage, Livestock, Energy, …
  • Experience with DB2 and SQL databases.
  • An understanding of custom written applications and coordinating issues with development teams.
  • Experience with one or more network, PC, and platform operating systems, including Cloud/SaaS/On-Premise, VMware, ISeries DB2/SQL, SQL Server, …
  • Experience with core software applications, including Infor M3, JDE Enterprise One, …
  • Experience with specific phases of the software development life cycle, especially Design, Build, and Test.
  • 3+ years' in an Application Support role
  • Familiarity with analysis in one or more of the following business processes: process manufacturing, sales and marketing, supply chain planning, inventory management, logistics optimization and distribution, procurement and plant maintenance, food safety and quality assurance, breeding and animal welfare, environmental resource management, finance
