Job Description

Location: Los Angeles or Remote

The IT Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, management, and maintenance of systems hardware and software related to IT infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the IT infrastructure services and ensure that system hardware, software, operating systems, and related procedures adhere to organization’s values, procedures, and policies.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise and monitor cloud-based infrastructure (Azure and AWS), local data center operation, telecom, LAN, WAN, wireless network services, firewall, VPN, and network performance
  • Supervise and monitor IT infrastructure including anti-virus, patching, hot fixes, software/firmware updates, servers, and other activities that will maintain the integrity, security, and uptime requirements for the company
  • Be responsible for overall IT security including DLP
  • Organize company-wide backup and disaster recovery including planning and testing
  • Desire to engage with all functions and business units across the company in driving IT infrastructure services with excellent facilitation, collaboration, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Handle licenses for all IT infrastructure related hardware and software
  • Investigate and follow both industry and internal best practices
  • Update documentations of applications, systems, and network equipment
  • Level -3 helpdesk support to identify and correctly work on service requests

Competencies

  • Intermediate or higher skillsets in Windows Servers administration, Active Directory, SharePoint, SQL, networking technologies, system security techniques, firewall administration, and VoIP troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of Nutanix AHV
  • Knowledge of O365 – User administration, Email security, SSO
  • General understanding of AWS management
  • General understanding of Disaster Recovery process
  • Proven experience working in high demand work environments
  • Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a variety of audience types using different mechanisms including informal updates, formal presentations, business case documents, and other analytical and technical documents
  • Must be able to apply creative and critical thinking and demonstrate strong logical and complex technical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, and policies
  • Establish and maintain cooperation, understanding, trust, and credibility
  • Perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively
  • Self-starter who is results-oriented with strong execution drive
  • Keen interest in learning technology, training and continuous development
  • Team-oriented, actively participating to foster collaboration with peers

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this position.

The physical demands of the office are normally associated with extended amounts of time sitting and using office equipment, including a computer, keyboard and mouse, which can cause muscle strain. While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position regularly requires long hours and may require weekend work.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. Travel may be required (up to 20%).

Required Education & Professional Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related field, or equivalent experience
  • Must have 3-5 years of IT Administrator experience
  • Subject matter expertise in all Microsoft environments as a system administrator and supporting users of Office 365 in a distributed and highly mobile business environment
  • Nutanix AHV and DRaaS
  • Must have a thorough understanding and support of current IT practices, hardware, software, LAN, WAN, wireless network, telecom, firewall, VPN, and their dependencies/interactions
  • A working knowledge of IT and cyber security standards, procedures, technologies, and architectures
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining cloud-based environments supporting highly secure and available mission-critical applications such as Azure and AWS
  • Business analytics experience across functions such as Development, Clinical Operations, Commercial, Medical Affairs, Sales, Manufacturing, and Finance
  • Strong communication and organization skills

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry highly preferred
  • Experience in Oncology highly preferred

The base compensation range for this position is $85k - $110k per year, higher compensation may be available for someone with advanced skills and/or experience.
