Sr Software Engineer - iOS - Must have AUTOMOTIVE experience.

Role Summary

This position will be responsible for designing and developing software modules for next-generation Infotainment systems and mobility services to bring innovation in the connected-car ecosystem to the automotive market. The position involves championing a compelling story of innovation across VW Group and to inspire main stakeholders within the organization.

The position gives the opportunity to develop functional prototypes to illustrate novel concepts as well as build production implementations for VW Group products. The position gives the flexibility to learn new things, try new technology, seek opportunities to grow and be mentored and participate in the Innovation Thinking process of the Innovation & Engineering Center California (IECC).

Role Responsibilities

• Implement GUI for iPhones of different screen sizes
• Design the software architecture of an iOS app, based on provided specifications
• Work with Project Manager, Designers and other developers
• Implement REST APIs, with JSON or DATA values
• Implement an iOS applications for proof of concepts on an iPhone and Carplay

(In addition) Software Engineer Sr Staff:

• Apply broad skills in related fields to design and develop new techniques to use in resolving new challenges.
• Provide supervision and guidance relating to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts and policy matters.
• Responsible for reviewing completed project documents for conformity, quality and design, and provide mentorship to junior engineers.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years in a product development role within a Connected Infotainment environment for an Automotive OEM or Tier-1 supplier – proven record of start-to-finish lead role.
• 2+ years of SW development experience, preferably in the area of Web or Mobile apps development.

Required Skillsets:

• Experience with iOS developer certificates, provisioning profiles and Entitlements
• Use versioning software such as GIT
• Good analytical and conceptual thinking (using logic reasoning, creative and strategic approaches).
• IOS programming, with Swift and UIKit
• Use threads when needed
• Basic familiarity with HTML, CSS, Javascript
• Ability and enthusiasm to learn and apply new and upcoming technology.
• Strong presentation and communication skills
• Use Xcode environment

Preferred Skillsets:

• Experience with a other languages such as Objective-C, C++ or Java
• Experience with SiriKit, HealthKit, CoreLocation, CoreData, CoreMotion
• Experience loading images to the UI
• Experience with Voice to text and text to speech
• Experience with Carplay or Automaker app development
• Experience writing an MFi app that communicates over USB or Bluetooth

Education (Required)

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Telecommunications, Automotive, Computer Science, Information Technologies, Systems Engineering).

Desired

• Engineering background with Master’s or PhD in Engineering (Electrical, Telecommunications, Information Technologies, Computer Science, Systems Engineering).

Work Flexibility

• Ability to work flexible schedule. Domestic (U.S.) and International (Canada & Europe/Germany) travel is required (up to 15%).
