Pay Range: $55,000 to $60,000 Annually

Position Summary of the HR Generalist :
The HR Generalist will support and coordinate various human resources activities, including benefits and leave administration, new hire orientation/onboarding, compliance, and general employee relations. They are responsible for prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously and following through on assigned tasks in a timely manner.
Responsibilities of the HR Generalist:
  • Coordinate semi-annual 401(k) open enrollment, track, and report contribution changes to payroll, and facilitate distributions from the plan when applicable
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and communicate the annual Benefits Open Enrollment process and meetings for staff in conjunction with Insurance Brokers.
  • Review all FMLA and other medical leave inquiries and provide appropriate, timely paperwork based on information received.
  • Assist employees and leaders with general HR or policy questions.
  • Effectively manage other projects as assigned.
  • Manage employee files to ensure regulatory and company policy compliance and correct all deficiencies.
  • Coordinate any necessary department audits as needed (Travel Reduction Plan, 401k).
  • Conduct exit interviews with separating employees, collect feedback, and provide employees with required separation paperwork.
  • Assist with processing all employee status changes (new hire, transfers, promotions, FT/PT changes, terminations, etc.) .
  • Facilitate new hire orientation and onboarding for all new BU employees (staff, faculty, leadership, and federal work-study).
  • Resolves employee questions/problems regarding insurance coverage, claims, and deductions as well as 401(k) questions.
  • Back-up for other Employee Excellence functions, such as recruiting, benefits administration, and payroll.
  • Coordinate Worker’s Compensation related claims.
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of the university's benefit plans and processes necessary to administer those plans and answer employee questions.
Requirements of the HR Generalist:
  • Ability to manage sensitive, confidential issues and information.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Proven track record for being a dynamic communicator, both written and oral.
  • PHR strongly desired.
  • Strong presentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a collaborative environment.
  • High level of customer service with effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hours.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and PowerPoint.
  • 2+ years’ experience within the human resources field.
