POSITION DETAILS


JOB PURPOSE


The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with the Director of Human Resources (HR) in supporting the HR function within the organization.


This position carries out various responsibilities in the following areas: employee relations, complaint investigation, performance management, onboarding, new hire orientation, policy implementation, recruitment, affirmative action, payroll, benefits administration, personnel file maintenance, and employment law compliance.


The Human Resources Generalist must have the ability to work independently on projects, be able to work well under pressure, have a high level of confidentiality, tact, diplomacy, and handle a wide variety of duties. This ideal individual will have strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and the ability to balance multiple priorities.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES/ RESPONSBILITIES

  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment
  • Process payroll for all personnel at all office locations
  • Conduct recruitment effort for all personnel, conduct new hire employee orientation, and maintain job descriptions and advertisements
  • Administer various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel; assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepare and maintain employee handbook in conjunction with the Director of Human Resources
  • Maintain Human Resource information system records and compile reports from the database
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to affect continual improvements in efficiency of the department; analyze and interpret business process issues and make recommendations to the Director of Human Resources in relation to systems, programs, and process
  • In conjunction with the Director of Human Resources, handle employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing
  • Maintain professional relationships that meet company core values
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned
  • Demonstrate the ability to interact and cooperate with all company employees and customers
  • Respond to all inbound employment verification requests pertaining to active and former employees
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend other meetings and training seminars as necessary
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications
  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems;
  • Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all support departments
  • Build trust, value others, communicate effectively, drive execution, foster innovation, focus on the customer, collaborate with others, solve problems creatively and demonstrate high integrity
  • Maintain, document, and track all employee medical accommodations including FMLA, medical leaves of absence, personal leaves of absence, and ADA disability compliance
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resources programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; and training and development


MARGINAL DUTIES/ RESPONSBILITIES

  • Complete ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Constant close visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal, reading, and analyzing data
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time; primarily sitting
  • Exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including own human body
  • Ability to primarily work with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm; typing, etc.; repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Constantly perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without corrections, and have the ability to receive detailed information through oral communications
  • Must be able to exchange ideas by means of the spoken word; where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to others accurately, loudly, and or quickly
  • Ability to occasionally move about the office to access office machinery, offices, restrooms, breakrooms, etc.
