As a GIS Analyst with the Enterprise Information Technology Department at the Sarasota County Government Administrative Center you will primarily support the Parks Department but will also be assigned projects from other departments including supporting Solid Waste following emergencies. Pay begins at $21.02 and goes up to $28.76 an hour with GIS degree or experience. Apply today to become a part of the premier community where people choose to live, work, and play!

  • Assist in the creation of geodatabase structures and schemas.
  • Assist in the direction of GIS layer creation and maintenance.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to Tier I personnel as required.
  • Perform GIS analyses utilizing a combination of spatial and tabular data.
  • Assist and support higher level GIS professionals with larger and more complex GIS projects.
  • Apply knowledge of GIS theory and concepts.
  • Perform GIS layer maintenance utilizing advanced technologies such as GPS.
E-Work/Hybrid Work: Currently this position is eligible to e-work up to 2 days per week! After you complete your first six months, contingent on work requirements and other factors, you’ll be eligible for this fantastic benefit.
Work Hours: M onday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of documented and proven GIS experience.
  • OR- 2 Year Degree in related field and 3 years of documented and proven GIS experience.
  • OR- Master’s degree in geography, geomatics, GIS or related field.
  • OR- Bachelor’s degree in geography, geomatics, GIS or related field and one year of documented and proven GIS experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with parks and natural resources data.
  • Proficient in updating and maintaining GIS data layers using versioned in a SDE database.
  • Ability to create and maintain ArcGIS Online applications and maps (Dashboards, Story Maps, Experience Builder).
  • Georeferencing.
  • Viewing/interpreting as-built Record Drawings and AutoCAD files (Viewer).
  • Editing experience in the versioned and branch versioning environments.
  • Experience with ArcGIS ArcMap 10. +, ArcGIS Pro 3+, ArcGIS Survey123 Connect, ArcGIS Suvery123, and ArcGIS Field Maps applications.
  • Familiar with domains and subtypes.
  • GPS device support.

Starting Pay Range: $21.02 - $28.76, depending on experience.
Position Salary Range: $21.02 - $36.48
