Hiring Department


UMSL Geospatial


The Geospatial Analyst will work under the guidance of the Director of UMSL Geospatial Collaborative at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, to help managing the geospatial labs, advance visualization, outreach, and research projects.

We are looking for a detail-oriented, research-minded geospatial analyst to join our dynamic team. The geospatial analyst will be responsible for analyzing geographical data, working collaboratively with other staff members, and communicating GIS concepts to non-GIS users.

Primary Duties Include:

  • Writing reports on the geospatial analysis findings.
  • Conducting feasibility and cost assessments for projects.
  • Using hardware and geospatial software for geospatial data analysis and visualization.
  • Meeting with faculty, students, and stakeholders to determine technical specifications.
  • Developing and delivering training programs and workshops to enhance the geospatial skills for non-GIS users.
  • Presenting the relevant information in an understandable way in various meetings and presentations.
  • Providing technical expertise in the use of geospatial software, tools, and technologies.
  • Manage the GIS and VR labs.
  • Collecting and processing geospatial data for research projects.
  • Researching and developing geospatial products for the market and internal use.

Shift


Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. (some evenings and weekends may be required)

Salary


Pay commensurate with education and experience.

Anticipated Hiring Range:
$65,776 – $80,000
Grade: GGS-012
University Title: DATA ANALYST II

Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Highly skilled with ArcGIS/ArcPro, and applied skills in one or more programming languages (Python, R, etc.).
  • 2+ years of experience in geospatial data analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience in remote sensing data, data structures, geodatabases, spatial and statistical modeling.
  • Writing and submitting grant proposals to prestigious federal funding agencies such as NSF, DoD, etc.
  • A master’s degree in Geospatial Science or related field.
  • Expertise with lidar technologies either aerial or terrestrial and/or drone data acquisition.
  • Have research, collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Geospatial Science, GIS, Remote Sensing, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Geoscience, Geography, or a related field, with a GIS certificate.
  • Ability to manipulate, map, and model aspects of large data set and 3D data cloud.
  • Prepare reports, manuscripts, and presentations of research findings for publication and conference presentation.
