Job Description
Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) I/ Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Where: Baltimore, Maryland (Fort Meade)
Type: Non-Exempt
Compensation: $47.00-$47.00/hr. + $10,000 Sign-on Bonus ($2,000 after the first 90 day, $4,000 after the first 6 months and $4,000 after the first year)
Work Schedule: Full-time, Day Shift

Skookum is seeking an experienced and reliable EVT I/ Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanic with a can-do attitude.
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
  • Understand and follow technical manuals, lube orders, wiring and hydraulic schematics utilized during scheduled service intervals to ensure proper diagnosis and repair of vehicles and equipment
  • Performs routine/scheduled maintenance and repairs of equipment and vehicles to include, but not limited to, wheeled vehicles, power generation, and material handling equipment
  • Accomplish repairs and perform services as outlined in established technical manuals
  • Perform inspection and repair on brakes, suspension, wheels, hubs, and steering systems
  • Performs maintenance and repairs on Emergency Response Vehicles primarily, Pierce, Seagrave, and E-One Fire Equipment
  • Perform major repair jobs by disassembling and cleaning parts, removing, and installing components, and removing and installing assemblies.
Qualifications:
EVT Level 1 requires the following valid certifications: ASE T-4 & T-5 and EVT F-1 & F-2 (EVT candidates that have expired certification(s) will be offered the Heavy Equipment Mechanic Position temporarily until all required certifications are current. Certifications must be renewed within 6-months from start date and will be fully reimbursed by Skookum. Additionally, candidates without active certifications upon hire will not qualify for the $10,000 sign-on bonus until certifications are attained.)
  • Must have 2+ years Heavy Equipment Mechanic experience
  • Heavy Truck ASE certifications (ASE T-4 & T-5)
  • Must have light, medium, and heavy truck experience
  • Knowledge in maintenance of military vehicles and equipment preferred
  • Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certification required in Fire Apparatus (EVT F-1 & F-2).
  • Must have experience working with diesel engines
  • Ability to use computers and computer software
Requirements:
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
  • Candidate must meet federal guidelines to be considered for this position - Department of Transportation (DOT) pre-employment drug screening, medical examination certification, and cleared query with the FMCSA Clearinghouse is required.
  • A valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B or a valid state Driver’s License and be able to obtain a CDL B within 6-months of hire. Must be able to obtain and maintain coverage by Skookum’s insurance company.
