Position Summary
Plans and coordinates activities concerned with investigating and resolving customer reports of technical problems with severe service valve and eliminating future operational or service difficulties by performing the duties listed below.

Responsibilities
  • Utilizes technical product and application knowledge and is capable of assisting engineering and/or sales team as requested.
  • Other assignments as required.
  • Looks for opportunities to increase CCI installed base of valves through replacement, retrofits, or upgrades to CCI supplied valves. Coordinates with CCI Sales Department to maximize exposure to every valve and spare parts opportunity.
  • Managing unforeseen challenges that arise during the execution of the on-site activities such as missing or wrong spare parts, the need for unexpected body repairs, upset or anxious customers, etc.
  • Timely submittal of Expense Reports and Service Reports.
  • Evaluates and analyzes technical problems and collaborates as needed with Engineering in the development of solutions. This is applicable to all severe service control valves.
  • Troubleshooting problems involving CCI products and determining methods of repair and/or replacement.
  • Makes judicious use of authority to make independent choices free from immediate direction or supervision.
  • Perform field service assignments involving installation, start-up maintenance, and repair/replacement of CCI and Sulzer Valve Product at customer plants. Field service will consist of interfacing with customer to direct performance of site maintenance personnel or personally performing the required maintenance tasks.
  • Instructs/trains customers in the proper maintenance and repair of CCI products.
  • Works with CCI Engineering Department to resolve design and/or manufacturing errors.
  • Recommends design and drawing changes to Engineering department and prepares as built sketches for Engineering review and for inclusion into design/drawing changes.
  • Advises customers of adequate spare parts levels and product upgrades and working with CCI Sales Department to capitalize on the opportunities.
Qualifications and Required Skills:

  • Technical aspects of CCI, BTG Bailey, and Sulzer products.
  • Primarily working independently at a customer’s site with occasional supervision, and will at times be required to create full documentation or assist in creating documentation of the service call
  • Valve and actuator assembly and disassembly.
  • Basic machining.
  • Knowledge of various inspection techniques such as MP, PT, etc.
  • Control system calibration.
  • Skills in managing on-site field service activities necessary to complete the valve project to the satisfaction of the customer, and as contracted and agreed upon by CCI.
  • Associate’s degree in a technical discipline desirable
  • Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot and repair intermediate level valve issues.
  • Computer operations such as Word, Excel, E-mail.
  • Machinist/metal removal experience desirable
  • Capable of performing managerial/administrative tasks within the field service group.
  • Blueprint/Drawing reading.
  • 3-6 years in an inside assembly role or relevant external experience in an industrial field service role.
  • Skills in exercising independent judgment in the analysis, resolution, and execution of solutions to technical problems associated with all severe service valves, especially CCI and Sulzer. Ability to travel 75% of the time, domestically or internationally, on as little as 24 hour notice.
  • Basic operation of Power Plants and Refineries.
