We opened our doors in Fall 2022 and are looking for innovative andexperienced educators to teach our student-athletes in our second year of operation.These individuals need to be flexible self-starters who embrace the opportunity to bepart of creating a dynamic new school.Lovell Academy, located in Rockland, MA is a new boarding school specificallydesigned to educate 132 elite hockey student-athletes, grades 8-PG. At Lovell,academics and athletics reinforce and support each students development withoutcompromising the quality or depth of either component. We aim to educate the wholestudent and have created a program and schedule that maximizes the opportunities foracademic, athletic, and personal growth.
To that end, we are pursuingInternational Baccalaureate candidacy and will establish our curriculum in linewith our intention to be an authorized IB School in five years.SummaryLovell Academys teaching faculty is committed to academic excellence and ispassionate about teaching and working with adolescents. Lovell faculty create aclassroom environment that facilitates learning and critical thinking and deliversan innovative and interdisciplinary curriculum.Essential Duties and Responsibilities1. Support student learning through an innovative and interdisciplinary curriculum2. Teach multiple levels of high school English (IB Group One courses i.e.Language and Literature)3.
Design lessons and units that incorporate the teaching objectives, materials,methods, and means of assessment used within the department4. Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress5. Participate in ongoing professional development, including IB training androundtable discussions6. Be open to interdisciplinary collaboration with colleagues and outside institutions7.
Be present and accessible to students and colleagues during school hoursProfessional Expectations: 1. Support the philosophy and mission of the school and its leadership2. Use educational technology and learning management systemsQualifications or Comparable Experience: Masters Degree with a minimum of five years teaching English, preferably in an IBSchoolEntrepreneurial spirit and a commitment to interdisciplinary work.
