Position Summary:

Potawatomi Training, LLC (a federal government contractor) is seeking a qualified candidate who analyzes content, organization, and presentation of material for readability (the presentation is clear, logical, well organized, grammatically correct and uses language suited to the intended audience, and technical terminology is used accurately). Interprets the content for clarity, verifies references, and suggests how tabular material can be effectively presented. Exercises quality control over completed material, coordinating with authors, Visual Information Specialist, and Subject Matter Experts, to ensure the publication is complete and adequate for the intended purpose. Ensures correct grammar, spelling, language usage, and adherence to Army style guidelines. Place doctrinal publications in the format mandated by the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) for electronic and print publication.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Possess creativity and artistic aptitude, attention to detail, and strong proofreading skills.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to use them to interact and communicate effectively and professionally with the technical staff, especially technical writers, and editors.

Education & Experience Requirements

EDUCATION:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, journalism, or related field


EXPERIENCE:


  • Experience must reflect the ability to proofread, concisely revise, and produce technical documents ready for publication or dissemination following professional standards for pagination and format.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience performing the technical writing and editing of technical documents/print publications IAW industry writing standards, preferably those of the U.S. Government, Army, and TRADOC.


CERTIFICATION / COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS:


  • Familiarity with military and/or military intelligence (MI) terminology preferred but not required.
  • Ability and willingness to work independently.
  • Ability to edit an average of 700 words per hour.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to use them to interact and communicate effectively and professionally with the technical staff, especially technical writers.
  • Ability to recognize and work with U.S. Government, Department of Defense (DOD), and Army language idiosyncrasies.
  • Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Office Suite applications and Adobe applications for publication editing, to include MS Word and Adobe Acrobat Pro, respectively.
  • Highly detail oriented.
CLEARANCE:
  • Secret

Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Requires standing for periodically
  • Work in the occupation involves making repetitive motions more than 1/3 of the time
  • Some walking and standing required. You may have to lift and carry equipment (i.e. books, tools) weighing approximately 10-15 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel and bend
  • Most of the work is performed in-doors
