We are seeking a Director, Pricing to join our growing crew in our Fort Lauderdale, FL Support Center.
Position Summary:
The Director, Pricing is responsible for the development and execution of pricing strategies at West Marine. This position collaborates with Senior Management, Category Management and the Wholesale Sales Team in achieving financial goals, maintaining competition position, and customer price impression with a proven ability to effectively build and manage relationships. The Director, Pricing interacts at all levels within the organization and manages a team of direct reports.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develops pricing personnel by providing training on pricing strategy processes and tools; reviewing and providing feedback on pricing strategies; assisting in preparation of analytics; and training pricing personnel. Develops and implements strategies to attract, maintain, and develop highly skilled and engaged workforce by determining capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.
  • Drives execution of pricing strategies by determining department and SKU level differences to competition; conducting price surveys leveraging third-party resources; and meeting with Category Management, Wholesale, Retail, and E-comm teams to recommend price changes based on current competitive landscape, future cost changes, promotions, and new and discontinued items; managing SKU life cycle of discontinued SKU markdown process collaborating with Category Management and Planning teams.
  • Provides overall pricing direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; evaluating operational processes, tools, and systems; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning.
  • Directs the development of effective pricing strategies for the company across stores, digital, and wholesale to enhance sales, drive traffic, and achieve gross margin dollars based on category roles, competition, and financial goals.
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
  • Bachelors degree, MBA preferred, Finance or Mathematical background
  • Strong analytics and leadership skills with the ability to multi-task and work collaboratively across the organization, learn and teach new processes and systems, and ability to manage effectively in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • 5-7 years of relevant retailer/wholesaler experience in pricing strategy, analytics, financial modeling, planning, and data interpretation.
  • Advanced Excel skills, PowerBI, Tableau, and/or other analytical and visual presentation platforms
