Job Description
Position Overview
The Director of Sales is responsible for leading the PreventionGenetics sales team and promoting and instilling a sales culture that achieves revenue goals. The individual in this role must have in-depth knowledge of PreventionGenetics’ products and services in order to understand and identify what motivates customers to buy and know how to tap into those needs and desires in an effective way. The Director of Sales is also responsible for developing and maintaining a training program and training new employees according to the program as well as assisting in developing procedures for sales trip planning, CRM protocols, and policies and procedures.
This position can be remote.
Essential Duties
Include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Share feedback and quarterly scorecards on sales team’s activities and performance in relation to established goals.
  • Participate in company-sponsored trade shows, national genetic conferences, and meetings.
  • Motivate and inspire employees to do their best work through coaching.
  • Maintain professional, genetic, and technical knowledge of PreventionGenetics products, policies, and procedures.
  • Supervise staff; including, but not limited to, organize and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.
  • Train, mentor and coach outside sales team members. This includes training new sales representatives on protocols and company sales culture.
  • Provide on-the-ground support for and leadership to sales teams as they generate leads and build relationships.
  • Work with internal partners to ensure consistent lead generation.
  • Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to learn laboratory skills and adapt to changing technologies.
  • Communicate goals clearly to employees to ensure understanding and success in achieving them.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients. Meet with customers to discuss their evolving needs and to assess the quality of PreventionGenetics’ relationship with them.
  • Partnering with other key stakeholders, ensure an effective CRM system and reporting capabilities that enable the sales team to carry out their sales plans and meet revenue goals.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Assist with planning and organizing on-site sales meetings.
  • Guide sales team with utilizing appropriate sales techniques to achieve revenue goals.
  • Interview candidates for sales positions and provide feedback.
  • Ability to travel 30% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to quickly become proficient in new software/technology.
  • Remove obstacles and roadblocks to selling company’s products and services.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Participate in the implementation and support of company strategies and initiatives.
  • Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively.
  • Ability to exercise interpersonal skills to establish and maintain a positive organizational climate and productive professional working relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Control expenses and ensure sales activity is within established budgets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Maintain current industry and sales knowledge and act upon market dynamics and trends to address client needs.
  • Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.
  • Maintain morale and support employee engagement initiatives.
  • Create strong relationships with internal stakeholders in order to appropriately escalate and incorporate sales needs into company initiatives and procedures.
  • Provide the senior leadership team with market intelligence gathered by the sales team regarding test development, client services, operations, and marketing.
  • Ensure national sales goals are met.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead others either directly or indirectly.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • 10+ years of sales experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, sales, marketing, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (i.e., Masters) in business, sales, marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience in genetic testing and/or biotech industries.
  • Basic knowledge of genetics.
Salary Range:
$184,000.00 - $276,000.00
The annual base salary shown is a national range for this position on a full-time basis and may differ by hiring location. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to receive company stock upon hire as well as annually. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms, conditions, and eligibility requirements of the applicable plans.
