Overview
The Director of Operations will play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing the entire operational process for a flagship manufacturing plant in Trenton, New Jersey. This key leadership position requires a strategic and results-driven individual with a strong background in manufacturing operations, talent management and development, and process improvement. The Director of Operations will be responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring seamless production processes, and enhancing overall efficiency and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent and efficient manufacturing processes.
- Lead and mentor a team of operations professionals, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities to foster a high-performance culture.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in manufacturing operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Engineering, Finance, and Sales, to ensure effective communication and coordination of operational activities.
- Develop and execute the operational strategy in alignment with the company's goals and objectives.
- Oversee supply chain management activities, including procurement, vendor selection, and contract negotiation, to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and services.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by implementing Lean Manufacturing principles and driving operational efficiency initiatives.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions to achieve operational targets.
- Maintain compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, safety standards, and quality management systems.
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing facility, including production planning, inventory management, and quality control.
Qualifications
- Solid understanding of supply chain management, inventory control, and logistics processes.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency in utilizing manufacturing software systems and ERP systems.
- Proven experience (at least 7-10 years) in manufacturing operations management.
- Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams towards achieving operational excellence.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and quality management systems (ISO, FDA, etc.).
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
