Job Title: Director of Operations

We are currently conducting a search on behalf of a leading manufacturer and provider of innovative construction materials for the building industry. With a strong commitment to quality, customer satisfaction, and sustainability, our client is at the forefront of delivering cutting-edge solutions. To support their continued growth and success, we are seeking a talented and experienced Director of Operations to join their dynamic team.


Position Overview:

As the Director of Operations, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing the operational performance of our client's construction materials division. Reporting directly to the Executive Leadership Team, you will be responsible for driving operational excellence, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring the highest level of product quality and customer satisfaction across seven manufacturing plants.


Responsibilities:

  • Champion and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies relating to product quality, safety, and environmental sustainability.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key suppliers and vendors, negotiating contracts and ensuring timely delivery of materials and services.
  • The Director of Operations will develop and execute strategies to improve operational efficiency, productivity, and profitability within the construction materials division.
  • Lead and manage all aspects of the division's operations, including manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment, providing guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities to operations personnel.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring performance targets are met or exceeded.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, implementing lean manufacturing principles and best practices to enhance operational processes and eliminate waste.
  • Work closely with the Executive Leadership Team to develop and execute strategic initiatives, contributing to the overall growth and success of the company.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and technological advancements, making recommendations for innovation and improvement within the division.


Director of Operations Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in driving operational excellence, improving productivity, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proven track record (8+ years) of progressively responsible leadership roles within operations management, preferably within the manufacturing or construction industry.
  • Results-oriented mindset, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer satisfaction and achieving operational targets.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in operations management, engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience in supply chain management, logistics, and vendor relationship management.
  • Sound business acumen, with a strategic mindset and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Familiarity with construction materials or related products is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in lean manufacturing principles, process optimization, and quality management systems.
