Job Description

DESIGNER (Childrenswear)


About This Opportunity


The Designer is a full-time position that helps to facilitate the sourcing, development, testing and color approval process for fabrics and trims under the Product Development division. This position is cross-functional, working in tandem with design, color, production, compliance, costing and brand teams.


Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Assist in reviewing trims for color approval and communicate color comments to mills/production team
  • Keep detailed records of comments, approvals, and status in PLM
  • Provide costing team with trim and new fabric development costs
  • Order, track and ensure timely delivery of all trim samples for buyer meetings
  • Coordinate and manage all fabric, trim and full garment testing for each season
  • Assist with brand development as needed, including hanger and labeling sourcing and development
  • Communicate with suppliers throughout the fabric and trim development process and throughout bulk production to ensure all compliance requirements are met


Qualifications:

  • General understanding of sourcing, development, and production process
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
  • Must have a strong sense of urgency and strong ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Knowledge of color theory, color matching, and printing techniques preferred
  • Entry-level to 3 years relevant work experience in textiles/product development/color analysis
  • Must have excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PLM systems and Adobe Illustrator
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills (including contact with overseas fabric mills and suppliers)
  • Experience in working with UL/CTL is a plus
