Job Description

The City of Raleigh is hiring a Division of Criminal Information (DCI) Clerk. This is non-sworn administrative position which involves collaborating with the Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) wherein you will be responsible for ensuring that the agency is in compliance with state and national regulations, which includes security and privacy training for all personnel. The TAC will act as a liaison during all State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) audits and all Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) audits.


In this role, you will work under minimum supervision and perform specialized auditing of the DCI/National Crime Information Center (NCIC) entries. This role requires application of modern computer applications, sound judgment, and independent initiative in pursuit of work objectives.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sustains contact with other law enforcement agencies to exchange information about the DCI/NCIC entries
  • Regulates special off line request for DCI/NCIC and DMV in state and out of state
  • Conducts monthly DCI/NCIC validation reports while maintaining logs
  • Reviews all NCIC entries for correctness so that they reflect police reports
  • Maintains all DCI operators password resets and active / inactive operators
  • Assists in re-certification of all DCI operators by conducting re-cert tests
  • Act as a liaison during Inspections Unit Audits or inspections by CIIS personnel and to notify SBI of any violations
  • Responsible for ensuring that agency is in compliance with state and national regulations


Typical Qualifications

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED and four years of related clerical and/or office support experience

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

Licensing and Certifications:

  • DCI TAC certification obtained through SBI or the ability to obtain such certification within a reasonable time after start date

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NCIC/DCI Certification
