Summary


ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The Office of County Internal Auditor independently reviews, evaluates and reports on the financial condition, the accuracy of financial record keeping, compliance with applicable laws, policies, guidelines and procedures, and efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Internal audit reports are given to management and used to provide a dialogue for constructive change.

ABOUT THE JOB:
The County Internal Auditor is authorized to conduct audits of all County departments, offices, boards, activities, and agencies. As outlined in County Code 2.14, the Auditor is responsible for overseeing and directing independent objective assurance and consulting services; and preparing comprehensive reports that include findings and recommendations.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviews operations and management systems in County departments for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assigns, supervises, and directs audit staff in the performance of their audit duties.
  • Provides other ongoing support that may include technical, policy, procedure, and best practice input.
What You Will Bring:
Knowledge of or experience with:
  • Cost accounting and contract management.
  • Leading-edge internal audit theories and methodologies.
  • Applicable Federal, State, and local rules and regulations.
  • Accounting concepts, principles, and systems for public sector.
Skill in:
  • Identifying and defining complex management, finance, budget, and administrative issues.
  • Directing, planning, and organizing internal audit work to be done in a timely and effective manner with a thorough understanding of County functions and departments.
  • Researching applicable criteria, including applicable laws, regulations, and policy as well as relevant business topics.

Compensation

$9,253.78 to $12,400.95 per month for a 172.67 hour work month. Excellent County benefit package when eligible.

Minimum Qualifications

  • OR any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field;
  • AND six (6) years of auditing and related experience, including managerial experience;

Necessary Special Requirements

The employment offer will be contingent upon pre-employment screening for criminal history and controlled substances (NOTE: Positive test results for marijuana use may result in rescission of a contingent offer of employment). These screenings must be completed with satisfactory findings in order for a formal offer of employment to be extended.
Ability to obtain certification for Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Oregon Certified Public Accountant (CPA) within 12 months from date of hire. Incumbents must also maintain a valid certification.
Work is performed in a standard office environment.
