Job Description
Responsible for the preparation of quality foods for patients, employees, and guests.
Education
  • Minimum of 3 years of directly relevant job-related experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.
  • High School Diploma or GED required
Experience
  • 6 to 12 months experience cooking, baking, or other institutional food preparation control experience exhibiting some basic knowledge of hot and cold foods, simple modified diet principles, and the requirements of sanitation and food handling required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Requires the ability to read, write and perform basic addition and subtraction.
  • Requires the ability to comply with basic oral and written instructions.
  • Assists with the orientation of new staff members by demonstrating the basic duties of the job.
  • Ensures food is prepared prior to customer service meetings prior to the meal. Documents quantity and disposition of leftovers in accordance with departmental policy.
  • Maintains work areas and equipment in clean, neat, organized and sanitary manner. Completes special and/or detailed cleaning projects as assigned. Disposes of trash and obvious clutter as necessary.
  • Assembles all food/non-food items necessary for usage during shift.
  • Attends in-services and other departmental meetings and training sessions as required, including all line up meetings.
  • Operates and maintains departmental equipment in a safe, orderly, and efficient manner. Informs supervisor of malfunctioning, damaged, and/or unsafe equipment.
  • Cooks/bakes food for meal service according to the day's menu, ensuring the quality assurance of the item prepared regarding appearance, taste, and temperature. Prepares menu items in accordance with forecasted or tallied quantities and follows established departmental recipes.
