Job Description
Role Summary


The Commercial Credit Analyst (CCA) role performs Risk Management’s due diligence process in the underwriting of Commercial Credit Applications.


The role performs financial reviews and analysis of potential borrowing corporations, partnerships and sole proprietors in the retail automotive business. Works with the submitting region office and Business Development Manager to complete the standard credit request documentation, tests the financial information for accuracy and completeness, evaluates and scores the potential borrower using Credit Company underwriting standards, reads and summarizes all accompanying legal documents, performs financial stability testing, analyzes the capital structure of the borrower, and evaluates the operating performance of the dealership. The role also ensures that the decision analysis includes, but is not limited to, an evaluation of Return on Invested Capital, Profitability, Asset Utilization and Efficiency, Liquidity, Capital Structure and dealership operating efficiencies. Present analysis and recommendations to the Commercial Credit Committee.


In this role, the CCA requests changes to credit facilities, additional new car lines, standard used car lines, brass hat used car lines, capital loans, operating lines of credit and/or mortgages received from current commercial credit clients are reviewed, analyzed, scored and recommended for disposition in a similar manner.


Focusing the company’s resources into areas that represent a moderate to significant risk of loss as determined through trend analysis and physical inspection. Portfolio performance is measured by several dynamics that demonstrate the proper repayment and servicing of the credit facilities extended to Volkswagen and Audi dealerships. Physical inspection reports are prepared and analyzed for changes in repayment behavior exhibited by users of inventory financing. Through timely analytic efforts, the credit company identifies risks threatening its commercial portfolio.


Role Responsibilities


  • Monitor for compliance the collection, input and distribution of the financial information made available by the borrower. Identify areas of significant risk resulting from incomplete and/or inadequate financial performance information.
  • Develop and implement a set of time series analysis to identify changes in conditions as related to the borrowers’ financial condition, changes in liquidity and/or capital structure, and compliance with lending covenants.
  • Participate in liquidity and equity verifications of new and existing dealerships within the commercial loan portfolio. Identify dealerships representing significant risk based on the results of the review.
  • Prepare monthly portfolio performance reports, analyze and identify areas of risk and concern, developing a “Watch Dealer” listing containing those borrowers that require more in-depth analysis.
  • Assist in quarterly “SWOT” analysis to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of borrowers held in the commercial portfolio.
  • Develop and enhance professional skills and talents through on-going training, adopting a philosophy of lifelong learning.
  • Review analysis with region office identifying areas of shortfall, conditions and terms if recommended for approval, explain justification for declination if not recommended for approval, gain a complete understanding of credit terms, condition, and interest rate being requested by borrower, if request falls outside the company’s standard underwriting guidelines obtain justification for exception.
  • Perform new client credit analysis in the following manner: Analyze the management and economic factors, review the quality of the financial reports, analyze the balance sheet for liquidity and leverage, analyze the income statement to determine the profitability of sales, financial productivity and break even point, study the relationship between the balance sheet and income statement identify borrowing causes and repayment sources, determine seasonality of cash flows and their impact upon repayment ability, analyze historic cash flows to project into the future expected servicing ability, organize conclusions about business risk, liquidity, leverage, profitability, cash flow, repayment sources, and margins of protection, then make loan recommendation. Evaluate the need for additional supporting information in order to make an informed credit decision.

Experience


5-7 years experience


  • 4-5 years extensive professional experience, including experience in Automotive Retail/Wholesale marketing, or experience in Commercial Credit Analysis for a Financial Services Company or Major Lending Institution or experience in Commercial Credit Administration and/or Financial Analysis in a Region and/or Corporate capacity
  • Extensive experience in Financial Analysis of closely held corporations, partnerships and sole proprietorships conducting business in automobile retailing


Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business

Salary


Salary range is dependent on factors such as geographical differentials, industry-based experience, skills, training, credentials, and other qualifications.


In the state of California, the salary range is $88,500-128,400.


In the state of Colorado, the salary range is $80,400-116,700.


In the state of Washington, the salary range is $88,500-128,400.


In the state of Rhode Island, the salary range is $80,400-116,700.


In New York City, the salary range is $96,500-140,000.


In Westchester County, NY, the salary range is $96,500-140,000.
