We are seeking a Chief Engineer at the DeSoto site (Los Angeles, CA) for a missile defense program. Leading, planning and executing development program engineering efforts. Engineering lead role coordinating design, analysis, systems engineering,avionics, and component project engineering for initial development work.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):
50%- Determines technical objectives and approaches: plan, conduct and technically direct the engineering production/development efforts. Leading and directing failure/anomaly investigations in support of production efforts. Provide coordination across the functional areas and with program management. Be responsible for the production effort under the general direction of the Program Manager(s). Responsibilities include planning the engineering activity and then providing the technical direction to ensure the technical success of the program. Working supplier issues and traveling to suppliers as needed. Traveling to the customer location as required.

30%- Represent Engineering planning and progress to the customer, including informal communications and the preparation of formal presentations and reports. Prepare program plans. Prepare/edit proposals, reports and presentations documenting status, issues and results. Work closely with the development team and others to assure successful completion of project milestones. Ensuring SDRLs are completed on time.

10% - Generate affordability strategy, documentation, procedures, specifications and plans. Influence design, development, integration, and testing of components and systems for aerospace applications.

10%- Perform other assignments as required.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 9 years of experience on liquid propulsion projects, including team lead experience required (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Advanced degree preferred. CAD knowledge desirable. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software required.

Will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
Pay range for this position:: 120,500 - 177,166 per year Note about pay range:: Pay range for this job level is a general guideline only for California and/or Washington State and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
