Job Description
  • Compliance and Professional Development: Adhering to legal and ethical standards related to occupational therapy practice, maintaining professional competence through continuing education and training, and staying updated on relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in school-based occupational therapy.
  • Equipment and Resource Management: Assisting in the selection, set-up, and maintenance of adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and other resources to support students' access and participation in school activities.
  • Collaborative Planning: Collaborating with the occupational therapist, teachers, and other members of the educational team to understand the needs of students and contribute to the development of individualized treatment plans.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicating effectively with teachers, parents, and other relevant stakeholders to provide updates on students' progress, discuss strategies for promoting carryover of therapy goals into the classroom and home environments, and provide recommendations for modifications or accommodations as needed.
  • Implementation of Interventions: Assisting in the implementation of therapeutic interventions outlined in the treatment plans. This may involve providing direct support to students individually or in small groups, facilitating activities to improve fine motor skills, sensory processing, visual perception, handwriting, self-care skills, and social-emotional development.
  • Documentation and Progress Monitoring: Maintaining accurate and timely documentation of interventions provided, student progress, and any changes or adjustments to treatment plans. Regularly monitoring and reporting on students' progress to the occupational therapist and the educational team.
