Associate Software Engineer - Aws

Technology$75,800.00 - $125,000.002Travelers has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Software Engineer to join our organization as we grow and transform our Technology landscape. Individual will support development of end-to-end software engineering tasks. This includes, front end (UX) development, backend and database support, and code management and deployment tasks (DevOps). Work will include test driven development & paired programming. Candidate will also get extensive experience in AWS technologies. This includes AWS Lambda and EKS container services. Individual will also have the opportunity to learn on a variety of applications across the organization as we continue software modernization efforts. The Work Arrangement for this position is based on Location.

• Perform basic analysis, development, testing, debugging, configuration, incident investigation, documentation, health monitoring/alerting, and implementing based on and related to user or system design specifications.
• Seek opportunities to expand technical knowledge and capabilities.
• Work within guidelines set by team to independently tackle well-scoped problems.

• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Domain Expertise - Emerging domain expertise including the ability to learn from research, others and through asking thoughtful questions, open to seizing opportunities to increase knowledge.
• Experience / understanding of AWS Lambda platform
• Working / conceptual knowledge with Testing Automation and TDD
• Experience / understanding of CI/CD DevOps tools like Jenkins, UCD, GitHub Actions
• The ability to work in an agile environment
• Conceptual knowledge of Terraform Enterprise
• Experience / understanding of with APIs using MuleSoft or AWS API Gateway
• Willingness to learn
• Two years of programming/development experience preferred.
• Knowledge / Understanding implementing capabilities based on event-based & microservice architectures a plus
• Working / conceptual knowledge of AWS EKS

• Experience / understanding of Cloud-based Software Delivery
• Experience with modern programming languages (i.e. JavaScript, Python etc.)
• Experience / understanding of with event-driven technologies like AWS EventBridge, Kafka, SQS
• Working / conceptual knowledge of native AWS Services
• Problem Solving - Standard problem solving skills including the ability to debug familiar code or systems easily, recognize when own knowledge or experience is lacking and reach out for guidance and approach each new task as an opportunity to learn, continually applying prior learnings to new challenges.
• Delivery - Developing delivery skills including the ability to participate in team planning, learn to estimate work efforts, assist in the application of designated software design strategy and methodology, test work following relevant examples including automation, take ownership of work after release, quickly addressing issues as they arise and collect and incorporate feedback throughout the process.
• Working / conceptual knowledge of NoSQL databases like AWS DynamoDB, MongoDB

• Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in work experience.
