The Wayfarer DTLA is actively searching for an Director of Housekeeping to join the team! The Director of Housekeeping will work closely with the housekeeping team to ensure rooms are cleaned to hotel standards. The ideal Director of Housekeeping will maintain a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times.
Situated in downtown Los Angeles on the corner of South Flower and 8th Street, The Wayfarer DTLA is perfectly placed to capture a number of varying markets. With unique food & beverage offerings, including a top-notch rooftop bar, and a full event and activation program for all of the outlets, The Wayfarer is primed for opportunity from both local residents in downtown, as well as travelers to the city center. The Wayfarer has a fun, lifestyle and irreverent feel to it. This design forward hotel will elevate the independent and ever curious traveler experience through a variety of flexible and social public spaces, local art installations, and interactive touches that entice one to dig deeper and truly experience the destination.
Brief Summary of Job: Assists Executive Housekeeper with management of personnel and day-to-day operations of Housekeeping department, including but not limited to guest room floors, public areas, laundry, inventory, uniforms, mini bar, and linen. Overall responsible for the cleanliness of the hotel and complying with Company standards.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the job include but are not limited to:
____ Providing services that are above and beyond for guest satisfaction and retention.
____ Utilizing interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others;
advocates sound financial/business decision making; demonstrates honesty/integrity;
leads by example.
____ Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members.
____ Improving service by communicating and assisting individuals to understand guest needs,
maintaining quality products in accordance with Pacifica Hotels standards,
providing guidance, feedback and individual coaching when needed.
____ Supervise housekeeping team to strive towards total guest satisfaction.
____ Ensure that all associates are adhering to all hotel policies, standards, procedures and regulations.
____ Supervising and managing team members. Managing all day-to-day housekeeping
operations. Understanding team members’ positions well enough to perform duties in
their absence.
____ Ensuring the cleanliness and the reporting of maintenance concerns for front- and back-of-house to ensure the highest quality standard.
____ Administering payroll edits, reporting and time & attendance policies.
____ Providing guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance
standards, monitoring performance and completing performance evaluations.
____ Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve
problems.
____ Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in
written form, e-mail or in person.
____ Maintaining complete knowledge at all times of: All hotel features/services, hours of
operation, daily house count, expected arrival/departures and all department policies and
procedures.
____ Handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts, or
otherwise negotiating with others.
____ Interviewing hourly housekeeping candidates making recommendations to Executive Housekeeper on new hires, pay rates and terminations.
____ Promote safe work practices.
____ Complete all required reports in a timely, accurate manner.
____ Provide assistance to other team members and departments to contribute to the best
overall performance of the department and hotel.
____ Open and close the house as needed, cover the Department in the absence of the Executive Housekeeper. Keep the team motivated and running smoothly when in charge.
____ Coach and Counsel team members as required for any concerns as they arise, communicate with Human Resources Management as issues arise.
____ Ensure confidentiality of all matters related to Employee relations issues, resolving concerns in a timely manner.
____ Instruct Housekeeping team on methods of cleaning, use of proper tools and keeping carts and storages fully stocked and in good working condition.
____ Advise of Safe working practices, ensure team is not working in an unsafe manner. Coach as needed to advise of safe work conditions.
____ Completing work schedules as needed for the Department, completing inventory and ordering items required for the Department.
____ Utilizing the Payroll system for accurate payroll following guidelines and standards
____ Communicating with Front desk and Engineering regularly in reference to room status updates, VIP room inspections, ‘rush’ rooms, early departures and specific room requests.
____ Attend all line ups, meetings, lead team meetings and team line up daily. Ensure staff are prepared for the day and know what guests are in house.
____ Perform other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.

Supervisory Responsibility: Overall responsibility for supervision of all housekeeping team members and housekeeping operations.
Independent Judgment Used: Frequently within the guidelines established by management and to the extent of operating within Pacifica Hotel Company policies and procedures.
Working Conditions/Environment: Interior of guestrooms, hallways and storage rooms. Access to entire exterior and interior of property. Use of approved cleaning agents.
